Keynote Address for Appita "Non-Wood Fibre - 2010 and beyond" Symposium

Abstract
On May 8, 2007, the Appita Asia Committee held a symposium "Non-Wood Fibre - 2010 and beyond: Prospects for non-wood paper production in Asia Pacific" in conjunction with the 61st Appita Annual Conference and Exhibition held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia.
Mr. Hurter presented the Keynote Address to the symposium in which he covered
 a brief history of papermaking
 the estimated global availability of nonwood fibre raw materials
 some technological advancements that could improve the economics of nonwood fibre pulp and paper production
 possible threats to nonwood fibres for pulp and papermaking
 a few possible nonwood projects that could be developed in the Asia Pacific region
Mr. Hurter's Keynote Address set the tone for the symposium which also included a range of international speakers presenting on the economics, markets, supply chain and business issues relating to a variety of nonwood fibres.
